The 2k rounds with the tungsten guide rod feel solid, and with a set of aftermarket sights it could be a longer range gun. Easy to learn and all but the smallest hidden figures are not too large.

I bought a gen 1 17 in the late 80's early 90's. I've put it through countless rounds of testing, and it performs like a champ every time. I have several pistols. But it's my hidden carry and my goto.

This is one of the best 9mm pistols. I know there are many, the Glock 19 is #1 in the US. American, but light, thin, conceivably full size Glock 17 Gen 4 9mm feels great in the hand, straps include beaver tail, because NATO FMJ is good practice, not crap. High voltage for affordable practice ammo. I usually use the Glock 21 model with NATO 239 .45 acp grain, but this is my second favorite. I haven't tried the Gen 5 yet, and I generally prefer the work-sized Gen 4 Glocks. Better settings can help with any FTE or erratic ejection issues.

I bought my G17, Gen4, to use the single action 9mm in that range. I was shooting double action .40 caliber. The convenience and feel of shooting is very good. It includes straps in various sizes, which is definitely a plus. I installed the Ultimate Pyramid flat trigger assembly, extended rails and optics. However, his shots from outside the box were very good. All in all, I have about $900 for this gun, which I think is worth it based on what I like. Fits my hand perfectly, accurate, minimal recoil, clear trigger break, quick reset, well balanced and reliable. The holster has a sleek design, but isn't too bulky for concealed carry. Excellent at range and used in tac action. I highly recommend this gun to the novice or experienced shooter.

I've owned my Gen4 Glock 17 for a few years now and feel it's one of the best 9mm pistols on the market. I installed the "Ultimate Pyramid Trigger Assembly" and fiber optic sights. These options only enhance the capabilities of this gun. Additionally, the wide back straps and beaver tail provide a good feel and comfort. Getting a good grip on the drawbar is comfortable and smooth thanks to the angles and dimensions of the design. Needless to say, this is critical to the speed of quick aim-and-shoot shots. As a military gun, it's lightweight so you won't get tired of carrying a heavy gun all day. Accuracy is very good in the field or during tactics. Right or left handed shooting is not a problem as it is well balanced. I have yet to have a malfunction with either precision or rapid fire. Most of all, I highly recommend this pistol for home self defense, duty and even competition shooting.
