This is one of the best 9mm pistols out there. I know there are many, and the Glock 19 is #1 in the US, but the lightweight, slim, full-size 9mm Glock 17 Gen 4 feels great with a backstrap that includes a beavertail because FMJ NATO's are good practice and not crazy. High pressure for cheap performance ammo. I like to use the NATO 239 grain .45 acp Glock 21 but this is my 2nd favorite. I haven't tried the Gen 5 yet and I'm generally more comfortable with Gen 4 size Glocks. A better recoil assembly might help with the FTE or miss issue.

Buy it relatively without knowing its history. I modified the trigger and firing pin assembly to improve the trigger pull and added a fiber optic sight. It is 100% reliable! I have owned it for about 7 years. Steel pipes, recycled factories and old bullets - just eat it and spit it out! I have a collection of guns and I buy and sell them, but I kept this one.
I bought my G17, Gen4 to have a single 9mm action for use on the range. Previously, I was shooting a double action .40 cal. Ease of shooting and feel is excellent. It includes back straps in different sizes, which is definitely a plus. I installed the Ultimate Pyramid Flat Face Trigger Assembly, Extended Slide Release and scopes. Still, it shoots very well out of the box. All told, I have about $900 in this gun, which I think is worth it for my preferences. Fits my hand perfectly, accurate, minimal recoil, sharp key break and quick reset, good balance and reliable. The design in the holster is smooth but not too large to hide. Excellent on the mowing range and used during tacking operations. Recommend this gun to new or experienced shooters.
Excellent gun never jams, try to jam it by firing 4 18 round clips as fast as possible, will not jam and still very accurately balanced.
I have owned the Gen4 Glock 17 for several years and feel it is the best 9mm pistol on the market today. I installed the "Ultimate Pyramid Trigger Assembly" and a fiber optic cable. These options only enhance the capabilities of this gun. In addition, the large back strap and beaver tail provide a good feel and comfort. Due to the design angle and size, getting a good hand from drawing is comfortable and smooth. Needless to say, this is important for sight alignment speed for quick target hits. As a duty rifle, it's light enough that you don't get tired of carrying a heavy gun all day. At range or during tactics, accuracy is excellent. Right or left handed shooting is not a problem as it is well balanced. Whether it's a clear shot or a quick shot, I haven't had a breakdown. The bottom line is that I highly recommend this gun for home defense, work, or even competition shooting.
